- TBA
Our coaching
clinics will be presented by our
national parent club, SAY Soccer.
Neil Bradford, former English
professional player, will be
here.
Look forward to a great learning
experience by national trained
professionals.
A big thank you
to the coaches of Stansbury
Soccer! We know you spend a
great deal of time and effort
working with our kids. You do a
great job and we appreciate the
talent and kindness you bring to
the soccer field.
Coaches
Information
The following
describes Stansbury
Soccer Club in more detail and
answers many coaching questions.
Please take time to review this
information.
Registration
Coaches, please
complete the following steps to
complete team registration.
Players must
submit a new registration form,
including payment, to their
coach.
1. Coaches submit
all forms, including a team
roster, to the club registrar
during one of the registration
events. At that time coaches
can also pick up pictures and
awards. (If you are not able
to deliver the team packets and
pick up pictures and awards,
please send an assistant or team
parent to do so.)
2.
Coaches, if
you are NOT coaching again and
you have players who want to
stay together, they CAN register
as a team. For ease in
transition, please try to find a
replacement coach before turning
in your team packet. If the team
is not staying together, or some
players do not wish to return to
the same team, individuals may
take their registration form and
payment to one of the
registration events or mail to:

Best Practices
for Coaching Soccer in the U.S.
Team Pictures
Team pictures are
taken during the spring season
only.
"Fall only" teams will
not receive a team
picture. Stansbury Soccer
provides one team photo for each
player. If additional photos
team or other are desired,
individual players may order
directly from the photographer.
Picture schedules
will be announced at the
beginning of the spring season.
Player
registration fees includes the
basic picture package. Please
make team pictures a priority so
each player can have the
promised package.
The photographer
will have team rosters at
picture time. Players not on the
roster will not be in the team
picture. Please insure the team
roster is accurate to avoid
discrepancies and
disappointment.
Pictures will be
available for pick up by coaches
at one of the registration
events or at Equipment Return at
the end of the spring season. If
coaches cannot pick them up at
one of these days, they should
send a team representative to do
it. Pictures should be
distributed to the team
following the last game of the
season.
Awards
Awards will be
available for pick up by coaches
at one of the registration
events or at Equipment Return at
the end of the spring season. If
coaches cannot pick them up on
one of these days, they should
send a team representative to do
it. Awards should be distributed
to the team following the last
game of the season.
Inclement Weather
– Game Cancellation Policy
It is the policy
of Stansbury Soccer Club to
cancel any game or practice at
the FIRST sign of LIGHTNING.
We recommend
playing through all other
weather conditions. However, in
some cases we have agreements
not to play if the ground is
extremely wet. We will advise
you if your game is at one of
those locations.
Both coaches must
agree to cancel a game at least
one hour prior to game time. If
a game is canceled, the coaches
must notify the referee
coordinator so the referees can
be contacted. If the referee
coordinator is not notified, a
referee will not be provided if
the game is rescheduled.
Lightning Policy
In SAY and SSC,
safety of players and
participants is of the utmost
importance. Soccer fields can be
dangerous places during sever
weather. In event of a lightning
storm, all games
and/or practices must be stopped
until the danger has passed, no
lightning for 30 minutes after the
last sighting of lightning, or
the last sound of thunder heard.
Game Rescheduling
If a game needs
to be rescheduled, both coaches
must agree on a date, time, and
location. Most often, the
rescheduled game will be held
during one of the teams’ already
scheduled practice time, thus
ensuring field availability.
Please contact your
coordinators. Their numbers are
on your schedule and your
coaching bag.
If necessary the coaches should
contact Mark Augustine to
schedule a referee. U5 & U6
games are refereed by their own
coaches.
Hopefully everyone is
contacting their players and
getting ready for their
first team practice. If you
have had any issues or
problems come up please feel
free to let me know and I'll
see if I can help. I have
had a few coaches ask me if
I know of any resources for
drills and games that can be
used at practices. So I
thought I would share with
everyone some of the
websites that I have found
in case you might need some
ideas or
additional resources and
information. There are a lot
of websites out there that
will help you with your
coaching if you'll just give
them your credit card
number, but these have some
great stuff and they are all
free...
This website is great! You
have to join to get the good
free stuff but it won't cost
you anything except regular
emails sent to your
account. If you don't want
to bother with that you can
use this user name:
Stansbury Soccer Club,
password:
kickit.
The website has a lot of
resources including drills
and games for all age groups
including video of kids
actually running through the
drills and games. It has a
lot of other free
information as well.
This website doesn't have a
lot of content but what it
has is really good. I have
used about half of the
drills that it provides and
the kids seem to like them
and learn a lot from
them. The site also has a
glossary for those who are
new to soccer so you
can find out exactly what a
"sweeper" is and what it
means to "feint".
This site doesn't have the
video that SoccerSpecific
has but it has a ton of free
information. Along with the
drills and games it
provides a lot of great
information on everything
from how to plan and carry
out your team practices to
what snacks are best to
bring for half time. I put
this site as number three
but you could easily go to
this site and get more than
you would ever need and
forget about the other two.
Anyway, I hope this is
helpful, especially to any
new coaches who are
wondering what to do now
that they have set up that
first practice. Thanks for
coaching! Let me know if
you need any help.
Thanks,
Derrick Jones
