Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Everyone can participate. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October. The next event is Saturday, October 28, 2006.

Millions have participated. In 2005, 3 million people cared enough about their communities to volunteer on that day, accomplishing thousands of projects in hundreds of towns.

Stansbury Park is sponsoring their own Make A Difference Day that will include several activities throughout the entire month of October.

A Safer, Healthier Stansbury Park

Highway Patrol Car Seat Safety
Saturday, Oct. 7
10 a.m.—12 p.m.

Located at Clubhouse

Members of the Utah Highway Patrol will be available on October 7th, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Stansbury Park Clubhouse in a effort to enhance public safety for Stansbury Park residents by holding a Child Restraint Safety Checkpoint. The purpose is to ensure that all children in Stansbury from ages 0-16 are properly restrained in a restraint system that is correct for their age and size while they travel in motor vehicles. In the mid 1990’s The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conducted a study of the use of children restraint systems and found that 79 percent of the restraints that they inspected were being misused. As the SPCA we would like to encourage residents to bring their children and safety restraint systems to this event, so that you can have a member of the UHP inspect it for safety. There is no other precious cargo that you will ever take with you in your motor vehicle then your child. So please take this opportunity to ensure that your child will have the quality of life they deserve. It is our duty as parents to prevent the risk of injury to our children by taking the time to inspect child safety seats, booster seats, and safety belts.
